OMG, I think I skipped over several but now am reading "Eleven on Top" and find myself LOL at the most inapporpriate moments (when there are other people present, mainly!)

I know there are some other Evanovich fans out there....anyone read the new one yet? Memorable moments in this one...

finding Mama Mac's mole in SP's apt in a box (turned out to be putty)
everytime Bob yarks up anything
looking up Morelli's shorts (he wears boxers)
"Babe"

Sorry, it's like an inside joke, but YA GOTTA READ IT!!!

I stopped in a snit after #7, but I am making up for lost time. I've got 8.9 and 10 in a bag waiting for me.

I can't remember which one had the line 'Thunder the wonder-horse!' in it, but the line itself still makes me cackle! Brain candy, but dang she's funny!

Wasn't there a thread where we were discussing the upcoming movies a while back, and we all were making suggestions for the characters? I'll see if I can find it.

If I have to go with Leslie's suggestions, I'd take

Antonio, Ian, and Marrissa.

I still like Viggo for Ranger (I think it's that name: Ranger that gets me, because Strider in the LOTR was a Ranger)...what about Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa's husband? He's pretty hot and Latin.

Morelli needs to be Italian. I'm not coming up with any alternatives.

Sandra Bullock for Stephanie Plum. Has to be.

The books are just so crazy and fast moving, and there is so much in each one. I need to go back and catch the other ones...I missed a bunch, but boss-lady has this laying on her desk and I asked to borrow it.

Sandra Bullock is not Big Hair, Jersey, Sassy enough for Stephanie. Marissa is the only acress that comes to mind that can pull it off, IMO.

STOP saying Viggo. >>shudder<< You may jinx it and he'd be miscast as this weird blond-viking-non-latino-kind-of-scumbag-not-svelte-or-mysterious-or-sexy pseudo Ranger, and then I wouldn't watch, which would be sad. Wink

Ian... you mean Ewan McGregor (sp)?

And Consuelos???? Can he even act? And no, he is too good-boy clean cut anyway.

Dark. Mysterious. Svelte. Sexy. Latino. Ranger is firmly implanted in my mind as all of those things after 12 books.

I still think Queen Latifah could do it - she has that funny way of fitting really well in every part I've ever seen her in. I also vote for Antonio - just as long as they don't let him talk very much.

Estelle Getty would be a perfect Grandma Mazur - if the poor dear hadn't been hit with Alzheimer's. Sad She's really bad off, from what I hear.

That first guy Leslie posted isn't old enough. I picture Ranger as more Antonio's age.

I just now read in Parade mag that Getty has alz pretty bad. Betty White says she doesn't even recognize them any more. Sad

Delia, you must read at least one. Go for the first one, you'll get more of an introduction. Then I think it's pretty safe to flop around...although you lose a little of the continuity if you do.

Bitty Schram

The very first day I saw Bitty Schram (Sharona) on Monk I knew immediately that she would be the ideal Stephanie Plum.

When she left the series I felt sure she would be scoffed up for the movie adaptations of Evanovich's novels....

I'm still waiting.

When a thought takes one's breath away, a grammar lesson seems an impertinence.

I just finished #11 and in the exerpt from #12 (OMG!!) there was a description of Morelli, and Patrick Dempsey just drew himself in my mind.

McYummy.

And I'm all on board with Marissa as Stephanie. Yep, I can definitely picture her.

Actually, Ranger is not large. Evanovich makes a point of that in a variety of ways in the series. He is taller than Stephanie, but never described as large. Svelte, Toned, Muscles, yes, but not bulky. that is what sets him apart from his crew, like Tank.

Morelli is ITALIAN. I think he can pull that off.

Morelli (from Twelve Sharp exerpt) "six foot tall and is all lean plans andgles and hard muscle. His complexion is Mediterranean. His hair is almost black and curls against his neck. His brown eyes are liquid chocolate when he's aroused."

Ranger - "he stood 1/2 head taller than me. He was perfectly toned muscle and he had classic Latino good looks....His skin was dark. His hair was dark. His eyes were dark."

I can buy Bratt for Ranger.

And I gotta go back and catch the ones I missed AND get Twelve Sharp now. No spoilers, but that was quite a doozy at the end of the clip that I got to read in #11!!!!

Mediterranean is very olive. That boy ain't olive.

Sorry, Wormie, I haven't read the books, but I've definitely heard of them and their author. I even interviewed her two months ago for Book Help Web right before her most recent release.

In that interview, she said that TriStar has been sitting on the movie rights for 12 years and don't seem to be able to bring it to screen. It sounded a little like she'd given up on it.

However, here's one for your casting. She said she'd like to play Lulu.

ROFL - you posted a picture of Evanovich herself! I don't think she can pull off Lulu!

BTW, since you interviewed her, maybe you can answer this nagging question of mine:

Is it EVaNOvich or ehVONovich? Big Grin

As for Ranger and "bulk", yeah, he's not Swarzenegger bulky. But he needs to look like he can pound you into the ground even if he's not really huge. He needs to be well defined.

Evanovich has always said Lulu was one of her favorite characters. I like her, but she isn't my favorite. My favorite is Grandma Mazur.

And wormie, go to BAMM.com and order the books in paperback. BAMM is cheap, and I think books 1 - 3 are in the bargain/clearance section now.

You don't have to read these in order, if you cant find the first few, but it makes it more entertaining. And they read quickly. And Brian could perhaps read them aloud to you while you crochet. Even HE might like these fun books.
