How did they know???
All I said was,"#1, please get the c-a-t c-a-r-r-i-e-r (spelled, not spoken) and put the kittens in it."

Right now, #1 has a gash the length of his face starting approx. 1/8 inch below his right eye, blood running down his chin, a hole in his new shirt, Alexander is finally caught and is in the carrier howling, Moody (who already went to the vet last week) is in the kitchen barfing from stress...and Anna cannot be found.

Tearhair

I need a vacation. Or a cat nanny.

Did you know? - hilarious but apparently true fact....

According to some, cats are one of the most psychic animals there are. Smile...They can supposedly see spirits and perceive psychic energy. What's that tune - noo-noo-noo-noo....

I actually did read this!

My trick is to observe the cat's whereabouts hours before the c-a-t-c-a-r-r-i-e-r comes down from the attic. At some point Astro will be in a room where I can shut the door, so I do. I return later and snuggle up with him, pet him, while Hubby gets the c-a-t-c-a-r-r-i-e-r. As Hubby and the dreaded transportation aid come down the hall, I snuggle Astro into a position where my hands are firmly holding the back paws and front paws. Hubby enters quickly, shuts the door behind him, opens the door of the carrier and POOF, in he goes.

Buffy, meanwhile, just sits on the passenger seat and looks at all the cars as we drive to the vet.

Will you be able to train the collie to herd the cats into the carrier?

I either bring the carriers out a few days in advance and just leave them lying around so the cats get used to them and I have surprise on my side or I capture the smarter cat first and put her in the carrier (with the door opening on the top so she can't get traction on anything else when I shove her in there). Catching the other cat is usually pretty easy since she doesn't seem to get it that she's next and hasn't learned to hide.

I hope #1 recovers okay!

#1 has stopped bleeding. Alexander had a seizure whilst at the vet, apparently due to stress. Anna came up to greet us at the front door when we got home. I frowned at her, and she ran and hid once again. Tomorrow will be better.

As for cats being psychic, that figures. It certainly explains why Anna hid after the vet appointment was over. If she read my mind at that point, if she's smart she'll still be hiding at this time tomorrow. Grumble.

Curtis, I vote your idea best of all. I shall set to work on Libby as soon a she arrives.
I can hardly wait to show the kittens and Moody their new surprise.

I guess I must be lucky. To get Claude in the c-a-r-r-i-e-r, I just stand it on end, pick him up, hold his back paws together, and stick him in.

What I have learned the hard way, though, is to MAKE SURE he uses the litter box right before we go. (And yes, I can do this. He always uses the litter box right after he eats. So I just feed him and lock him in with the litter. Smile )

I leave Pixie's carrier out, too. She loves it, hides in it when she wants "alone time" or when she's not feeling good. Matter of fact, last time she was at the vet's, I just left her in the carrier and took the top off it (gods bless VariKennels), and she sat in it like a little princess. And when the vet came to put her in the carrier when it was time to go home, she just trooped right in.

What always gives me the willies is how the cats know what I am going to do before I do. I can walk past the cat dish a dozen times and not even think about filling it up, then when it suddenly occurs to me do so I can turn around and see the cat already sitting at the bowl waiting.
