Vista or Win 7 in a new laptop is the question? I've been using windows 7 since the public beta was released, it seems a bit faster than Vista (noticeble when navigating menus), and a bit less "heavy handed" than vista (UAC isn't as annoying, not as many file/folder permission problems). Win 7 Home premium has a few nice new features, like snap, full image backups, improvements in win media center (netflix, some network tv shows), a more intuitive taskbar, etc. I can't see any reason to choose vista over Win 7. But if you are already running vista, I don't think its worth the $120 MS charges for a single user license to upgrade to win 7.
